My Newborn Essentials and Must-Haves

When I was pregnant I would watch so many YouTube videos about baby essentials so that I would be ready and prepared when my son was born. I purchased so many things in hopes that I would be ready for whatever came at me once the baby was here. If you are interested in seeing what made my list of newborn essentials and must haves keep on reading.
My son Julian is now 7 weeks old and in these last seven weeks I have compiled a list of items that have been essential for us in the first few weeks of his life. From this list I left out clothing items because we all know that the basics are essential with any baby.  Please keep in mind that every baby is different and just because it worked for us it doesn't mean it will work for every other baby.

First on my list I have swaddles. Everyone kept telling me not to buy swaddles because their kids never liked them or they only used them for the first couple of weeks and then never again. Well, my son loves to be swaddled. At 7 weeks old we still wrap him up in his swaddle for every nap and at bed time. My favorite ones are the Aden + Anais Swaddles. We have like 20 of them! I love these because they are super soft and very breathable. Julian tends to get really warm when he is covered and these help him not get too hot and sweaty.

Next up I really liked using this baby nail trimmer. I was super scared to trim his nails because you hear all these horror stories of moms cutting the skin around the baby's nail. This trimmer has been a life saver and Julian doesn't seem to mind when I use it. There is no risk to cutting the baby's finger and it gives me peace of mind when I am doing it.

The NoseFrida has also been a life saver for us. Julian tends to wake up with a stuffy nose and he has a hard time breathing. I will take the NoseFrida along with some boogie wipes and clear out his nose super fast. As gross and disgusting as the idea is of sucking out boogers with your nose I find it's the most effective way of doing it.

If you plan on co-sleeping with your baby for the first couple of months the Snuggle Nest will be your best friend. I still use this with Julian and he seems to like sleeping in it. I feel more comfortable having him in this because there is a barrier between him and I and I know I won't roll over on him. It is also a cheaper alternative than other co-sleepers that are on the market.

Another FridaBaby product that absolutely saved us was the Windi. Julian got very gassy around the time he turned two weeks old and he was in so much pain from trapped gas and his belly being so hard. I tried absolutely everything from gripe water to baby probiotics. In my research to see what I could do to help my crying baby I came across the Wind on a blog. I'm going to be honest, at first the thought of sticking something up my sons bum was not it. I went our and bought a pack of them and held on to them for about a week before I worked up the courage to actually use it. Let me tell you, the Wind is a game changer! It releases all the trapped gas along with some pop (tmi) and leaves your baby feeling like new.

My next must have are the Avent Soothie pacifiers. Julian refuses any other paci but will always take a smoothie. He tends to suck for comfort or to fall asleep sometimes so we made sure to have these everywhere!

When we give Julian a bath I always worry that the water is too hot and that I'm going to burn him. Queue in this next product for ease of mind. The Munchkin White Hot Ducky is an awesome accessory that let's you know when the water temperature of your baby's bath is too hot or just warm enough. The ducky has a blue circle on the bottom that will turn white if the water is too hot and will go back to blue once it cools down.

These products have definitely been game changers for us. What are your newborn essentials and must-haves?
