What My One Year Old Eats in a Day

I have been blessed with a kid that is not a picky eater. He will eat whatever we put in front of him. Today I want to share some what my little one eats in a day and give some of ideas to help those mommies out there struggling to find new ideas of what to feed their kids. Keep in mind these are just ideas and my son eats healthy most of the times but we do give him some things that some may consider to not be super healthy. It's called balance.

Breakfast: For breakfast Julian enjoys a waffle with some maple syrup, diced mango cup, and one scrambled egg. Other things we offer him are:

  • Fresh berries
  • Yogurt with fruit
  • French toast
  • Bacon
  • Sausage links
  • Oatmeal
  • Cereal
  • Peanut Butter toast
Whatever we feed him we always offer up some options. I try to change it up every day so he doesn't get bored of eating the same things over and over again. I always offer fruit because I know it is something that he will eat. Like I mentioned already he is not a picky eater and will everything we give him, however he has his days when he only want to eat the fruit or the cereal and that's ok. I never force him to eat anything that he doesn't want to eat and if he only eats one thing and doesn't want the others I keep them on his plate for options but offer more of what he did eat if I feel like he has not eaten enough.

Snack 1: My child is a very big snacker. He eats breakfast around 8:00am and by the time 11 or 11:30 come around he is ready for a snack. This is where I tend to give him things that other may not consider so healthy. For example today he is having some cheese puffs. I know it's not the healthiest choice but it is something he enjoys. Other snacks we offer are:
  • Goldfish crackers
  • Cheese sticks
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Ritz crackers
  • Cheese cubes
  • Deli Meat
  • Yogurt

Lunch: On this particular day, Julian got a cheese quesadilla with some apple slices, cheese cubes and a couple of Scooby Snack cookies. Lunch time is what tends to be harder for us to do because momma runs out of ideas quick. However, whatever we do feed him he always gets a serving of fruit or veggies with his lunch. Other options he usually has are:

  • PB&J Sandwich
  • Rice with veggies and chicken
  • Cheese sandwich
  • Mexican Sopita
  • Beans with cheese

Snack 2: On this day he ate some berries for his second snack.

Dinner: Dinner is the easiest meal for us. Julian will always eat what we eat so we just set aside his portion and that will be his dinner. On this day he ate some pasta with tomato sauce and meatballs.
